Does anyone have a definitive answer to this?  Has anyone able to
migrate their home phone number to cityfido and keep ADSL service from
telus?

Does this CRTC decision have any weight on this?

http://www.crtc.gc.ca/archive/ENG/Decisions/2003/dt2003-49.htm

Unfortunately, I am unable to switch to internet service from Shaw,
and can not get cityfido unless I can still have DSL.

Thanks.

While there have been "stories" of people keeping their DSL it is not
officially supported and if you DID manage to do it they could cut it off at
any time. Basically, if you want DSL you must have a landline, not
exceptions. Sucks, doesn't it? TTYL

Although repatch may not agree, patience will be rewarded :-)

Hi Ringo,

Yeah, Telus told me it was impossible to keep DSL without a landline.

Undeterred, I switched to CityFido, and ported my landline # to me Fido.
I was going to switch to cable right away, but my DSL still works. I've
still got my DSL hooked up and the last Telus bill they sent me was for
the DSL only.

I don't think it s officially supported, but whatever, it still works.
I'm a little miffed at Telus for not telling the whole truth...

Cheers,
J

Good job.  And your landline is now completely dead?  Are you in BC or
Alberta?

Yep - has been for quite a while now, and I've paid one bill w/Telus
(half of what I usually pay so its internet only) - I'll cancel at the
end of Jan - My friend is leaving town and I'm getting her old cable
modem - so I'll switch to shaw.

I'm in Vancouver.

If you want to gamble - go for it.

Hi All,

Well, just got a bill rom Telus for $228.13. It seems they're charging
me for 2 months of internet service plus $150.00 for "Equipment not
returned" Ie: the modem I was renting off them.

So there you go - I guess it will catch up to you - now I have to sit on
the phone forever while I wait for their CS...

That sucks.  Let us know what your outcome is with your telus fight.
Telus is definately not plesant to deal with.
