If I use my Fido's Merlin card (GPRS internet) and my City Fido phone (GSM)
at the same time in the same place,
will they interfer with each other?
Currently, I am using my Bell Mobility (CDMA) for voice and Fido's GPRS at
the same time and have no problems due to different types of digital signals
(CDMA - GSM) and different frequencies (800/1900 MHz vs 1900 MHz) only.
By the way for those of you interested my average bill would be $90/month
before System access fee and tax to Fido, and $40 a month to Bell Mobility
for Real Time Canada 250.

I don't see how they would interfere with one another... since this would
mean that if you were near another Fido customer who was happening to use
his/her cell phone at the same time that you were using your cell phone, you
would have problems also which doesn't happen (or because I'm not an
engineer, happens to such a small degree that it isn't even noticeable)...
am I missing something? Another reason I don't think that you will have any
problems is that I've seen people use the Fido GPRS browsing features on
their phone while other people nearby used their Fido phone for talking and
neither of them had any problems.

If you are spending $90 plus SAF for your data use, you could just as easily
add unlimited 1X data on your Bell Mobility for $100, that is if you have a
1X phone.

I decide to switch my land line to City Fido using GSM with unlimited
airtime in the Lower Mainland.
So day time I will forward all my voice calls from Bell Mobility to City
Fido and use unlimited Fido Data (GPRS) for $50/month.
Then at night time switch for to Bell for their unlimited evenings starting
at 6 PM and Fido Data.
My wife will use City Fido at night time.
So the month cost to me is
Bell Mobility 350 mins weekdays, unlimited weekends and weekends for $47
plus taxes
Fido GPRS unlimited data $57/month
City Fido, unlimited Voice in Lower Mainland $40 + taxes.
All of this is a write off against my business income.
Only problem is that Fido GPRS only works in major cities, ie Vancouver,
Victoria, Whistler, Edmonton, Calgary.
But not in the smaller towns like Dawson Creek, Prince George. So I will
just go the local library to check my email and local Radio Shack for an
Internet connection while in their towns.
$100/Month for unlimited Data is twice the price of what I'm paying, and I
already paid $600 for the Merlin PC card.

You should have no problems with GSM phones (even on the same network)
inches apart.
