Was thinking of getting one to use as on the back-up phone when travelling
in BC and rural areas.  How good is it and is it "buggy"?

One of the first phones I had from Fido was the Nokia 6190 with the analog
module. I still keep it in my car when I travel. It works very well on the
Bell network, but I've never been out West so I can't say for B.C. All
around, I'd say it's been one of Fido's best phones.

I have the Nokia analog module also but on a 5190. I use it as a back
up phone when I go up north in Squamish or Prince George or anywhere
there's no Fido digital coverage. I get a pretty good reception when I
am in around town but not deep inside forests. But I guess it's the
same for any other analog phone.

Where can I pick one up?  It's not on Ebay or should I say, none of the
sellers are in Canada.

I have one that I would be willing to sell you and I'm in Ottawa.

First, do you already have a 6190 or a 5190? That analog module works
on these two models only (well, I don't know if it works on 7190
also). If you do have this phones, call CS and ask them that you want
an analog module. They might still have some in their stockroom. Or,
you can call each Fido store around where you live and ask them if
they still have it. It was $75 3 years ago.

The other option that you have is to get your self a Nokia 6340. Its
regular price is $350 without activation and $300 with new activation.
If you are eligible for a HUP, then you might be able to get it for a
lot less. AFAIK, the maximum rebate Fido gives is $191.

Call CS -- that's 611 on your Fido.

CS says they have none.  I haven't checked out their flagship location
in downtown.  I'd like to try before I buy.  I have a 5190.  We dont
want to shell out the big bucks for the 6340.  We'll be upgrading to
either the M55 or Motorola V60i, or perhaps another newer  model in
the new year.   Ideally, we'd like to have the module as a back-up.

I've got a brand new one - still sealed.  I'm located in Richmond.

I do exactly the same, it lives in my glove box for use on the Telus
network here in BC. The telus network is not good in many locations, but
it does work.

Not good in many locations?

If it only works sometimes, well, then it's not of any use to me.  I
remember my first analogue phone from Cantel way back when.  Coverage
was very good in rural areas.
