I was hoping to reprogram the phone itself. I recall that any phone that
supports analogue can be used on ANY network in that mode. No unlocking is
necessary.
I don't know if Fido would charge for their programming. I called today and
the french girl didnt know what I was talking about. I told her three times
during the convertsation that the 8260 is not a GSM phone when she kept on
telling me that the phone would need to be unlocked from Rogers so I can
insert the Fido Sim card. Unfortunately, my experience with Fido CSR is
very poor. They lack knowledge. :-(
Thanks, yes, I am aware of the $0.20 charge. The phone would be only used
in emergencies.

You still need a lock code to unlock the phone to program your number into
it. Also, because it is a Roger's Digital phone, it will not work with the
Bell network. Get yourself a strictly analog phone and you will not have a
problem

Are you sure? I recall many years ago when I didnt want to upgrade my phone
I was given the option of using my analogue/TDMA/Digital phone on CDMA. In
addition, changing the phone number is quite easy. You don't need an unlock
code, just a Nokia code. But, I'm thinking you need to know which carrier
Bell is under.
They guy at the Fido kiosk suggested this method as opposed to buying an
analogue module.
