The promotional plan Fido2Fido is expiring on the 13th of january. However,
there are rumours of a new Fido2Fido plan to replace it, with a few extras.
Stay tuned, we should know more on or around the 13th.

So, it appears this was just an advertising promotion for christmas season.
The marketing was clearly aimed at families. And I suspect that while it may
have been a big flop, it provided a low cost excuse for Fido to make waves on
TV and show its name without committing to giving new customers anything that
costed Fido anything.
However, where such a plan might have made sense is a "walkie talkie" plan to
compete against Mike and Nextel. (does "Mike" still exist ?) and that would
have been more aimed at business.
I personally do not see the widthdrawal of that plan as any sign of
Microcell's financial status.
What will be interesting is whether existimng Fido-2-Fido customers will be
grandfathered forever, or if Fido will provide strong incentives to migrate to
another plan.
Another possibility is that the relatively few people who did take up that
plan have been abusing it big time. (were there ant limits on number of
minutes you could use between 2 fido phones ?)
On the other hand, when you consider CityFido which has unlimited talk time, I
guess Fido shouldn't be bothered by a few who abused Fido-toFido.

The Fido2Fido plan is not a flop, but it was a promotional package which
already been extended in the past, so it's certainly not because it's been a
flop, it's very popular.
Fido always grandfathered old plans.
Rumors says that it will be once again extended, and that something better
(but higher priced) will be introduced as well.

It would be nice if the Fido to Fido option included if you were phone a
Fido sub some where else in Canada... I.e. If I were to phone a Fido sub in
Toronto or Out west from here in Montreal...

Or it could be that every provider has a promotional plan that
expires..and that plan has always had in small print that it will
expire Jan 13th.
Also, it's obviously not a flop if they kept it in for the christmas
season, it's very popular.
Anyway, you'll just have to wait and see how Fido tops this plan- and
believe me..it's going to be great.
Anyway, the existing F2F plan will be extended again, but there will
also be a new promo plan out.
Also, EVERY provider has promotional plans, when the promotion
ends..it doesn't mean people who had it have to give it up..they keep
it as their normal plan. IT's a simple as that, they never did it
before, why would they start? It's not like this was their first
promotional plan.
