I expect my M55 soon. Will, of course, be playing with GPRS as soon as I get it.

A furry 4 leggedFido CSR told me that if I were to subscribe to the $5.00
option for 500k in mid month, they would only charge $2.50 (or whatever
pro-rated for number of days) and only give me a prorated download limit.

Does anyone know if this is truly the case ? When I signed up for Fido, they
only charged pro-rated fees for the month, but I had the then 100 minutes to
use during those days.

Is it possible to purchase two $5.00 packages for a total of 1 meg ? It is a
rather big step between the $5 and $25 packages (500k to 5 meg).

Also, does anyone know how much per kb one is charged after you've consumed
the 500k of the $5.00 option ?

For the $25 for 5 meg, they document that each additional meg is then charged
at $10 (twice the price/meg as the base $25). But there is no documentation on
how much it costs once you exceed the 500kb of the $5.00 option.

I really fear my first month when I will be experimenting.

I subscribe for it and it's true.  5Mb is enough to play with GPRS sites as
long as you don't download a lot of wallpapers ringtones etc.  I browse a
couple of pages almost everyday and never reach the limit.  I go between
200-400 per month.  The over limit is .03 kb as before.

Well, the $5.00 gives you 500 kilobytes, not 5 megabytes ... (it is the $25
per month that gives 5 megs).

If I buy the $5.00 package and end up consuming 1 megabytes, it costs me $5.00
for the first 500k, and then $15 for the other 500k at 0.03 per Kb. So $20 for
1 meg, $25 for 5 meg.

What they need would be a
    $5.00 for 500 Kb
    $10 for 1 Mb
    $25 for 5 Mb

Yes it's truely the case and you're wrong about the minutes, everything is
always prorated.

No it's not possible.

3? per kilobyte
