Adnan - 30 Jan 2004 16:31 GMT I wonder why Fido discontinued the T310 but still has the T300 on sale. Any guesses?

I regret buying it. Define "sucks", my 310 is great, no complaints at all about it. TTYL

Feels like Win98 running on a 386. -To send an SMS, one must go through a ton of screens before you actually can send it. -Hard to grip the phone. (feeling lucky that I haven't dropped it yet)
My main gripe is the speed though. I'm getting sick of the ever-present lag (particularly when I redial, dial a phonebook contact or hang up).

First of all, there's no need for a shortcut. Just hold the center stick to the right and it immediately brings you to "Write new SMS". The thing is, after you've finished writing it you have to go through 6-7 screens before you reach the "send" option.

TTYL Bah. It's way to slow. I prefer the no-lag nokias and siemens. Too bad the 15-day period is way over... :(

That it a shortcut, defined by what you have in position one on your shortcut menu. For example, on my phone holding it to the left brings me to the alarm settings menu, which is what I have in the number one place of the shortcut menu. Try reading the manual. TTYL

The phone sucks, period. ;)

Anyway that is besides the point. The phone sucks, period. ;) No, not period, you didn't do your homework and think it "sucks" because of that.

"Doing my homework" will not change that.
You are an idiot if you think I'll continue arguing with you on whether the T310 sucks or not. FOAD.

While you feeling of it "sucking" would still be valid to you, you wouldn't have been bothered by it.
To be the slow responses doesn't make it "suck".

Umm, yes it did. In fact every ericsson I've ever had has had this "problem" in one form or another. I'm talking about the CA638, T18z, T28, T200, T300 and T310. I guess you just didn't notice it on the T200 as much since it might not have been "as bad".

As for after writing an SMS I've gotten used to it. Again, this is something you should have tried out before buying the phone. Oww, this car sucks because it's trunk release is on the right side of my seat instead of the left...

Too bad > the 15-day period is way over... :( The slowness is so apparent you shoudl have noticed it after a minute of use, why it took you 15 days to notice it I don't know. Personally it's one of the best phones I've ever had, for it's price. TTYL

Whether you got used to it or not, the fact that you need to go through 6-7 screens before you can "send" is totally unnecessary and could have been avoided if they had designed the interface better.

That doesn't mean I can't complain about it.

Yes, there was, it just might not have been as noticible to you. I can demonstrate the lag with my CA638, T18z and T200 if you wish. Can't demonstrate with the T300 since I don't have that phone anymore.

I don't know what you're doing wrong. I just tried on my T310, from the point of pressing yes after I finished entering the message, to the point it actually sent was 2 additional screens, one for the number and one to confirm all the receipeints have been sent.

That doesn't mean I can't complain about it. Actually it is. If you buy a lada and then complain about it not beating a Porsche all will laugh at you, since you bought a lada knowing full well it couldn't beat a Porsche. This is the same. TTYL

Not really a big deal:
press yes on the message, number entry menu appears press left key, menu appears asking which source for the number: phone book, SIM or unsaved entries, press phone book menu appears to find the entry, enter the first character of the entry phone book appears, select the right entry the entry's available phone numbers appear, select the one that is appropriate menu appears asking if you want any more recipients or if you want to send
Now, while this all looks much, if you look at it there isn't really anything there that SHOULDN'T be there, and taking any of it away takes away features. You yourself said the T310 has many features, this is a consequence.
While a few of those menus could be taken for the average person I find each one is necessary when I'm sending a message.
While other phones might do it in less remember that they are probably lacking some features that your T310 doesn't have. For example on many phones you can only have one number per phone book entry, hence that menu selection wouldn't be there. On many phones the SIM is the only place to store numbers, so that menu wouldn't be there. Some phones don't let you search the phone book at all, meaning that menu wouldn't appear.
To each his/her own. TTYL
