Hi all,

I'm taking a vacation for 2-3 months and won't be needing my phone at
the time.  Anyone have experience temporarily disabling their Fido
account?  I understand there are several ways.  Basically, I don't want
to be paying for a service I'm not using.  The handset is mine and I'm
on the $20 plan.  I'd cancel completely, but I don't want to loose my
phone number.

Thanks!

Switch on prepaid and don't refill the account.  Your sim (and number) will
be good for 4 months before disactivated. When you come back just switch
back to your plan.  Beware some of the plans will require a contract
starting feb 17 but probably not the 20/200 which is the more basic plan.

You could switch to the $10/month plan. TTYL

Or you can switch to prepaid (costs nothing), and switch back to monthly in
2-3 months (thus keeping your phone number).  You may have to add a 10$ card
somewhere in-between if you stay for 3 months or more.

True, but there might be "future" issues with that. Fido generally bases
your "worth" on how many months you've had post paid, if you switch to
prepaid and then switch back you might loose that advantage? Not sure
though, this is mostly a guess based on what I've heard here. TTYL

switch to the $10 plan then dont forget to turn off your mobile only if you
take your mobile with you, cause if you have voice mail you will be charged
for that...

Why not just ask FIDO instead of guessing!

If you've been with Fido at least three months you could temporarily
change to the $10 "a la carte" plan which doesn't include any minutes
or other extras (such as voicemail, three-way calling, etc.)
