Using the email client in your phone. Fido doesn't currently support MMS.

What's your phone?

If you're comfortable crawling around in the menus, here's a hint: You
use Fido's SMTP server to actually send the message. I think it's
gprs.fido.ca. It doesn't require authentication.

I'll let someone who knows the M55 answer, but you don't need a user
name or password for Fido's SMTP server. It knows that you're attempting
to access it from your network, and it knows who you are from which cell
phone you're using.

Once you found the setup screen (menu, messages, setup, email, account,
options,chg settings) you found this:

user
acces: fido gprs
name: your name
email address: your provider email
identifcation: Your provider username
Password: your provider password

Mail
Max size: I set it to 8ko
Keep copy on server: yes
type: pop3
serv. pop3:  Your internet provider pop3 (not fido)
port pop3: 110
serv. smtp: gprs.fido.ca
port smtp: 25
autentification: no

It work ok for me. I can read my provider mail and send emails.

Also for MMS you can use it if you use:
server: http://mms.wirelesslab.ca
IP: 205.151.011.011
IP port: 9201

It really depends on your phone.

You need 3 things setup:

1- a GPRS profile
  APN: internet.fido.ca
  no login name
  no password
  DNS1 and 2 set to 000.000.000.000

2-outbound SMTP server:
    gprs.fido.ca , port 25
you'll also need to imput your email address that will appear in the "from"
of your messages.
(for instance, you home email address).

3- inbound pop server
you'll need to enter the name of the pop server where your emails are to be
picked up,
(standard port is 110), along with a username/password combination, and
usually a download limit per message (you don't want to receive a 2 meg file
on Fido since WAP isn't free).

I'm having problem to do that too.  My phone is Nokia 6220, and I can
send email from the phone but the problem is that the connection which
the multimedia message uses is the MMS and I cannot attach the image
to an email.  Any help would be appreciated.  When I choose Send image
by email, it still tries to send the email through the MMS connection
and that fails.

Anyone knows if I can send the message through irDA?

When you compose an email message (not an SMS), does the NOKIA give you the
option to add attachements ? If so, then you attach the file containing your
picture. (as opposed to openint the picture and then using options to send the picture).

In the siemens, there are 3 disctinct sending options, SMS, MMS and email.
Interestingly, there are items that can only be sent by SMS, (for instance an
entry in the phone book).

There are also little sounds you can attach in SMSs that you cannot send as an
email. (yes, the siemens has even more hidden sounds available while you
compose an SMS but not available elswhere).

I don't see any attachment option in the E-mail software.  Is there
other way to transfer the photo out other than MMS, like is there any
software I can download to my phone to accomplish that?
