Inukshuk's wireless internet doesn't quite make sense right now. BUT, when you
combine this with City Fido, it starts to make a lot of sense.
If you drop your landline, you drop the ability to have DSL for internet. So,
providing alternative high speed internet access is one way for Microcell to
steal landline customers.
In the past, cable companies such as Shaw and Videotron were sizeable
shareholders. But now, they are just tiny itsy bity shareholders (if at all).
What is left now, if for Microcell to sign a deal with Star Choice so that it
can offer bundles that include voice, internet and TV.
And considering that Inukship's roll out is in Ottawa areas as well As
Vancouver area, my guess would be that City Fido's next target might be Ottawa.
