I got a new Nokia 1100 from Cityfone, but I think its not new. How can I
tell? I think they are trying to rip me off?

try entering
*#WAR0ANTY#
(the character between R and A is zero not O)
on some nokia 3xxx it shows the date of production and life timer
it is very depressing to see how much time you actually spend on the phone
;)

and one more thing
if this happens to work on your nokia, the only way out is to turn off your
phone

Thanks for the warranty code maltchev I forgot about that one. I tried it
and everything is set to 0000, even the manufactures date is mm/yy. I'm
wondering if its refurbished and the firmware was upgraded or something
would it reset everything?

Unfortunately they have been selling refurbished phones for many years now.
