Has anybody noticed the service totally sucking lately? at least one
call a day goes to my message service and I'm getting plenty of fast
busy tones when making calls.

Anyone else?

Is FIDO aware? Are they "on it"?

Buddee.

I agree there is a problem, I know my trouble ticket regarding reception
has taken more than a month, and they have not confirmed they have dealt
with it. Microcell is well aware of the problem and is working hard to
add stations.

I have heard this from Fido contacts and it is confirmed from some of
their job ads for network engineers.

I suspect that the increase to $45 was in part to reduce the demand.

Of course, knowing they have a problem and resolving the problem are two
different things.

Hopefully they will succeed. It is interesting to note that they do seem
to be finding the funding now.

Reminds me of the old Rogers....they gave really good deals to new subscribers for their high speed internet and then the quality/service was very poor.

I only had one problem, once during the day while outside the Bayshore Inn
in Vancouver.

I got a fast busy signal. I solved the problem by pushing the send button
again, and the call went through.

So City Fido worked 99.99% of the time for me.

I will be taking it down to Las Vegas and Los Angles and testing out the GSM
and GPRS service there.

A lot cheaper than using my Bell Mobility cell.

So you made 10,000 calls ? (if one failed call represents 0.01% :-) ;-) :-)

If you actually hear a "fast busy", it geneerally means that it is a landline
problem (interface between fido and telus being the likely suspect).

If it is the Fido network that is busy, you would get a "system busy" message
on your handset.

I doubt it, I had a 3 day period where my phone would get fast busies for
about 4 out of 5 calls, drove me nuts.
