Dial-up ISP With Treo 600 (T-mobile)

When I had my Treo 270, I was able to call my existing dial-up ISP to
connect to the Internet, therby avoiding the need to pay for my
wireless provider's data services. (I was charged normal minutes.)
However, I have been unable to do so with my Treo 600.  Does anyone
know I can do this?  Not being able to do very much reduces the
usefulness/value of this product to me.

Did palmOne or Handspring modify the phone to prevent this
functionality so as to require us to buy T-mobile's data plan?  I have
searched other posts which indicate that this is still possible, but
neither palmOne nor T-mobile wish to tell me how.

Go to Preferences, select Network, in ISP list select Other and click on
menu and select new and select cellular dialup modem and input info for your
ISP

Doesn't work if the phone is locked. T-mobile's version is locked in the US.
