My beloved Motorola P280 has bit the dust (on-off switch doesn't
work, and yes I've tested it with a fresh battery and on mains power).
The P280 sometimes is listed on Ebay, but availability is spotty so
can anyone recommend other reputable sources?

I'd also be willing to entertain suggestions for other moderately
priced tri-band phones (or maybe 1800/1900 dual band) with excellent
RF and audio quality.  I don't care about games, color screens,
bluetooth, cameras, etc. -- just RF and audio.

The bass player is like a good offensive line.  The team sucks when you
are not on your game. When you're on your game, everyone congratulates
the quarterback, running back, and receivers.  --  Dave in a.g.b.

Last year I renewed my contract and got a Nokia 6610 for $35 from
T-Mobile.  I had a P280 before and thought it had good RF and was a good
phone but this 6610 is much better,  especially for RF.  it takes a
special headset connector, so you'll have to replace that if you don't
like the cheap one you get with the phone,  but this 6610 is great.
It's a couple years old now, as well.
