Hi!
I found some nice phones in Japan (like Toshiba v303t koto), and I'd
like to get one for use in Europe (like Germany, Slovenia, Italy,
Croatia?).
Now, AFAIK a w-cdma phone should be able to fallback to GSM, but will it
work for sure? How about being able to put in a GSM sim card?

That model is WCDMA only, no GSM.
And as far as I know, Vodaphone's WCDMA/GSM phones for the japanese
market are all subsidy-locked with no unlock available, PERIOD.
