I have an Siemens SL-56, a third party USB cable, and the Freia15
software. I successfully installed the USB drivers, but I can't seem to
get the phone unlocked, even with the instructions:

  > Take out any sim cards and turn off phone
  >
  > Connect the cable to PC and phone
  >
  > Launch software
  >
  > Sellect Phone model
  >
  > Press the unlocking button
  >
  > Select the direct unlock no map is saved and press use original imei
  >
  > Power on the phone and the software will unlock it

The SW gets to the point of "waiting to turn phone on". The cable has a
two position switch. In one position nothing at all happens when I tap
the power button. In the other position, I briefly get a small, faint
icon in the upper right corner of the phone's screen. Then I get an
error message from the SW about not being able to turn the phone on.

What am I doing wrong?

That is a "triky" phone. Period. In fact, when I first got my cable and
FREIA I went 2 months being told everyone that my cable was bad. Well it
ended up being my POWER BUTTON TAP ON technique was lacking. I noticed you
used the term TAP so I guess you know that you TAP the power button briefly
when it asks you to turn phone on.
The SL56 uses different settings then the S56. If you are used to doing S56
and now just plugged in a SL56 , it wont go. If you know that you hae a good
cable, and its talking to the phone, chnage your Port Speed, I think Iused
115 (I dont have laptop with me so Im doing all this from memory)
And the Type of file down at the bottom, bootloader etc? you know what I
mean. Also, when I do SL56s, the final result is not the same as it reads on
the screen when the s56 is done, in fact the first 2 I did, I didnt even
know they were done.
If you didnt get it, gimme another holler and maybe we can get on MSN and
play around when I have laptop with  me.

I'm setting the model as an SL55, not the S56 (or S55). I have set thye
speed down to 57K, and the "Process Information" option to low. I don't
know what you mean by "type of file".

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks.
