Europe - prepaid SIM card or my Cingular??

I am traveling next week to Iceland and I think my best solution to using my
cell phone there is to buy a prepaid SIM card with a local number when I
arrive?

I am a Cingular customer with an unlocked Nokia 3100.  The phone will work
there using my Cingular SIM card, but the rates are $1.29 / min for outgoing
and incoming calls.  I am not sure what the extra would be for international
calls.

From what I have gathered, I can get a new SIM card in Iceland which will
have a local Icelandic number.  Then my calls would be around $0.16 / min
outgoing and free for incoming.  Additionally, calls back to the US would be
around $0.80.

So, if I mainly use the phone for local calls and then have my office and
family call me, using the cell phone there shouldbe fairly reasonable??

Any comments or better suggestions??

Thanks,

Tarp Head

A very good idea!

Your best choice would be Og Vodafone. PrePaids are called Frelsi.

The price of a start package is 2900kr (appr $40) incl 2000kr worth of
calls and messages.

If you feel like trying to read their home:
http://www.ogvodafone.is
Your family and friends back home can send free SMSs to your Og
Vodafone SIM card from the home page mentioned above.

Check out the coverage here:

Have a nice stay!
