I am about to take off for France and hope to buy an Orange SIM for my unlocked GSM phone upon arrival. Could someone who lives there (or has been there recently) confirm that I can do this easily and what sort of documentation I will be expected to furnish at the Orange shop. I read all kinds of things about recent utility bills, verifying my address, etc., but I can't quite believe that. Also, is Orange the best choice for Paris and Provence? I had no answers from prepaidgsm.net. I did post this once before, but did not get (what seemed to me) a very definitive answer -- I guess I am a worry wart. Apologies and thanks in advance. Franz Yes, I think you worry too much. Just go to France and buy your sim card at any phone retailer. Ask around, they are not hard to find. I used an Orange sim when in was in France and had no problem. I was not asked for any ID, just to complete a form. Normally in France it should be that you either complete a form, but some retailers will ask for the ID. Why they don't care to mention Belgium, I can't even guess.
