GSM modem - sending and receiving AT commands

Hi all,

Apologies if this is a FAQ, but I haven't been able to find anything
yet...

I'm trying to write a full duplex software interface to a GSM modem.
However, from what I can tell, the modem is able to send unsolicited
result codes (things like "RING" and "+CLIP") to the serial port (to
be read later by the computer), at the same time that an AT command is
being sent to the serial port from the computer.

This poses a problem for me. How am I supposed to know if (for
example) the "OK" result that I get from the serial port is the "OK"
from an unsolicited result code, or the "OK" for the command I just
sent?

Thanks for any advice!

Desmond

Desmond:

It's just a though, but you might want to read the standards document
_GSM ETSI 7.07 - AT command set for GSM Mobile Equipment (ME)_ at
http://www.3gpp.org/ftp/Specs/archive/07_series/07.07/0707-700.zip
