hi,
i bought an NEC 515 from eBay and am using it with my Cingular simcard and,
for calls, all is well.
i'm sure it's gone around that an nec 515 can't use mediaNet, it insists on
using mMode, so i have no internet connection whatsoever.
but my son wants games on the phone. again, problem, can't be installed via
cable/irda . must be downloaded and installed from net, which, i can't get.
now, tell me if you think this would work...
say i borrow my buddies at&t sim, pop it in my phone, go grab all the games
he wants, take out the at&t sim and put back the cing sim?
possible?
thank you,
marc

Problem is that games aren't stored on the SIM they're stored on the
handset.

You can change the Internet setting under Settings/Other/Internet.
You have to get the correct setting from Cingular.
Here is a link:
http://supportcingular.atgnow.com/cng/knowledgebase/KB5664.html
You cannot change the Factory Settings. You change the User
Settings.

Non-Cingular branded phone will not have all the categories for
entering the MediaNet settings. Since the settings are stored in
the phone, putting another SIM card in will allow you to download
using that SIM card. You would have to create an account at
http://www.nechdm.com using your PC in order to download games from
that site. Using your phone will cause your phone to be registered
with mMode as your buddy's phone. The games may require online
registration and will cost your buddy the prices of the games plus
the data transfer charges. He should reconnect to mMode as soon as
he replaces his SIM card in case he gets phone-specific updates.
