What is the difference in the GSM networks?

ok. if i have a GSM 850/900/1900 Cell phone, will the sim card work in
a GSM 850/1900 Phone?

Here in usa, all you need is 850mhz and 1900 mhz. If the handset has 1800,
it wouldn't matter.  Any 850/1900 mhz phone will work here.

Yes, but you won't be able to use any networks in the 900 band.

As long as the phone is not locked to another carrier, it should work fine.
