Hi,
Summary
- Previously had an existing Bluetooth connection from my old
laptop to a GX30i that I subsequently returned.
- I cannot now "pair" with, or from, a replacement phone.
- Can connect with Motorola V550 with exactly the same setup.
Setup:
- Laptop: Windows XP - Service Pack 2
- MSI-Bluetooth dongle with updated driver from MSI (needed
specific driver for SP2)
Symptoms:
- Trying to connect from phone
- Turned Bluetooth on on phone (saw bluetooth simple on
screen)
- "Search for Devices" shows the laptop, but it looks
greyed out.
- When try to pair with it using select it just beeps and
does nothing.
- Trying to connect from laptop
- Finds the phone (although shows it as a GX30).
- When try to pair with it the laptop times-out.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Rob

<More info>
When I list the "Search for devices" (or similar) menu in bluetooth
menu, it gives the following (from my memory).
- Headsets
- Car kit
- All
and because the GX30 (i.e. not GX30i) only supports car kit and
headset, I assume that the replaced unit is a GX30 rather than GX30i.
Hence the phone will not pair with the laptop.
