When dialing a number in the USA should you use the area code and the
seven digit number or 1+ Ac and the number?

That will depend if you are in the USA or elsewhere.  If you are
dialling the US numbers from within the US then you would only need to
dial the area code and local number.

If you are outside the US, or ever travel outside the US you would then
need ensure the numbers are in International format.

Thanks Simon. That covers my question. Of course, there are other
permutations such as roaming outside the US and a foreign account but
we really don't need to go there.

A more comprehensive solution is to always store all numbers with th
international dialing prefix "+", then country code, then number. Wha
that means is that, you can dial the same from anywhere in the world.

for example

US would be +1222551111
UK would be +447999888888

The function of the + is to append the international dialing code fo
whatever country you are in
