If all you are interested in is using it outside of the US, then loo
for an eurasian triband. That's a phone with 900/1800/1900. Th
american triband has 850 instead of 900. In europe/Asia/Africa th
bands used there 900/1800. We use 850/1900 in the US. You can even loo
for the dual-band with 900/1800. Now, if you also plan on using th
phone isn the US, with tmobile (primarily a 1900 ONLY carrier) any o
the tribands will do, but with cingular you need a quadband, becaus
they use both 850/1900.

Whatever phone you get, make sure it's unlocked so that it will accep
any provider's sim card.  The best place to look is ebay...see link
For about $100 you can get a good quadband on ebay.

You should be carefull in choosing since not all phones are capable of
receive network in both Europe Asia and US. For this .. you'll need a
triband phone... besides this.. it's just a matter of taste. I personaly
like the Nokia 6600.. but if you're more into the business type... then a
Sony Ericsson p910i or Nokia 9500 are also very good choices.

I suggest you look at Motorola quad band phones, which would be
available fairly cheaply in USA.  Make sure unlocked, in case you wish
to use a local sim card whilst travelling.

free and outgoing calls are only $.45-$.60 per minute no matter where
you call. Better yet, this card expires only after one year of

I am going to buy it myself for use in Europe. I've done lots of
research, and I think this one has the best rates for Europe.
