I have used Cool Edit Pro 2.00 software to convert my 19 seconds .mp3
file (Paathshala_mp3PRO_FhG_Fraunhofer_IIS_and_Thomson_multimedia.mp3
Size = 311kb) to .wav file of four different types:
Paathshala_ACM_Waveform_8.0kHz_8Bit_Mono_7kbps.wav     Size = 156kb
Paathshala_ACM_Waveform_8.0kHz_8Bit_Stereo_15kbps.wav     Size = 311kb
Paathshala_ACM_Waveform_8.0kHz_16Bit_Mono_15kbps.wav     Size = 311kb
Paathshala_ACM_Waveform_8.0kHz_16Bit_Stereo_31kbps.wav     Size =
622kb

Then I used Yahama WSC-MA2 WAV/AIFF->SMAF software to convert the
above .wav files into .mmf files:
Paathshala_ACM_Waveform_8.0kHz_8Bit_Mono_7kbps.wav     Size = 78kb
Paathshala_ACM_Waveform_8.0kHz_8Bit_Stereo_15kbps.wav     Size = 78kb
Paathshala_ACM_Waveform_8.0kHz_16Bit_Mono_15kbps.wav     Size = 78kb
Paathshala_ACM_Waveform_8.0kHz_16Bit_Stereo_31kbps.wav     Size = 78kb

I have also tried Psm Player 5.0 with no luck. May be I don't know how
to use it.

Then I thought, there must be a limitation to the .wav file. Since it
requires images of max size 128 x 128, I thought for a melody file,
the file size limitation would be 128KB therefore I reduced the size
to 105kb (p.wav) by cutting initial portion of the song but even this
did not help.

A zip file of all the above files can be downloaded from:

Question1:
My .wav files sizes differ according to their bit rate settings but
the converted .mmf files are of the same size. How?

Question2:
None of the .mmf files can be uploaded to my Samsung SGH-X210 mobile
phone. It says "Fail to send melody file to phone". There is 624KB
memory dedicated for images and ringtones and I have not used a single
kb of it.

Question3:
Can somebody convert either the .mp3 or my .wav files and send it to
me at mahesh <dot> chindarkar <at> gmail <dot> com? If it works, I
will ask you how did you convert.

My files can be downloded from the following url:
http://www40.brinkster.com/Maxlott/mmf.htm

PS: My object is to have HIGH QUALITY sound on the phone. It should
not be distorted.

Regards,
Maxi
