I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a Nokia 8310 that my wife
found at the side of the road. The battery was flat but charged ok from my
3330 phone charger. When I turned it on it asked for a code. Not knowing the
code, I turned it off and put my Virgin Mobile sim card in and turned it
back on again. This time it started up fine. It connected to the network ok
and displayed Virgin on the screen. I went through all the menus and checked
all the settings, I even carried out a factory reset. All seemed ok till I
tried to make a call, it tried to connect then bleeped and displayed "End
Call?" Is it possible that the phone itself is blocked? I assure you that I
did not steal it!! I would like to get it to work as a phone for my Daughter
to use and would appreciate any help you could give me.
Thanks
Leon.

Usually when a phone is lost/stolen the owner calls his service provider to
block the serial # (IMEI) to render it useless. If you tried making a call
& heard 3 beeps and it showed "end call" then it has been blocked for sure.

And don't you think somebody might missing it?

Thanks for the helpful advice there Michael..... Of course I thought about
the person missing it, but without being able to obtain any details from the
phone about the owner and with a few thousand people living around my area,
it was like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
But saying that after a lot of work asking around and by pure luck I managed
to find the owner, who promptly snatched the phone from me and with no word
of thanks walked away.
So with people like yourself handing out all these "helpful" hints the world
will become a better place to live.
And a lot of beginners to newsgroups will be to scared to ask a civil
question.
