Hello
I would like to be able to receive SMS messages from a cell phone in
the USA - I am in the UK.
The friend was told by her telco provider that this is impossible.
Surely it isn't?
Can anyone offer any advice on this subject?
Please post here or reply to off list - itsaspamtrap AT yahoo DOT com
Thanks in advance

This is a matter of trial and error and truly unpredictable.
A few years back I exchanged SMs here from Austria with someone
with a Texan SIM. (Was it PacBell South? Can't remember). From two
Austrian networks (both had voice roaming with the US carrier),
exchange was impossible; it worked, however, both ways with the
third network that did not even have a roaming agreement.

Tell the other user to plug in your number in the following format...it
ought to work otherwise call custmer service..
1) 0114479....
2) +4479...
If that doesnt work..i dont know what to tell you.

It all depends on the operator. Some operators work flawlessly to
send and receive to the US. Others work in one direction and not in
the other. Others don't work at all.
