info on short message service

i am a engineering student and is been asked to do a project on sms
and various value added services.
i have searched the net for info on sms but have not found any info
that could be easily understood and is of use for me. if any one could
help me on this i would be grateful.

How about some basic questions on what you want to know. You haven't
given any indication on what you wish to know. If it's basic
information you can get that yourself by just using google.
