TMO Pulls EMAIL Address Feature Off EasySpeaK PrePaid

After battling TMO PrePaid customer care since 12-01-2003 that I couldnt
recieve any EMAILS generated with my PrePaid Phones xxxxxxxxxx@tmomail.net
email address, TMO has decided to tell their CSR's that they have pulled the
feature off their PrePaid Phones due to "lack of interest" That is such a
lame statement I wont even address it. Anyway, for those who may have been
wondering, or seen my past posts of intermittent text messages, that is the
scooop. While these are spares, the nain reason was unlimited FREE incoming
to even have them.
Now according to one CSR I spoke to today, she has stated that the level of
disgruntled customers is high, and this has been booted upstairs. The
response was somewhere along the lines of "It may not be gone for good".
Translated, IMHO, the Unlimited FREE incomming TEXT coupled with an EMAIL
addy is just too good a deal, we need to put the pencil to it. I would
anticipate an incredible resurrection, with incoming TEXT now costing,
probably 2 cents. And that IS my 2 Cents worth!

Here is a link to the TMOBILE WEBSITE "CONTACT US" Quick Email site so you
may express your "Thoughts" on this matter. I jsut found out that this move
has also rendered the Online "SEND A MESSAGE TO A TMOBILE CUSTOMER" not
working any longer as well. I do not believe anyone did much thinking about
this move at all.

I have sent the following to t-mobile web customer service:

I wish to formally protest to tmobile management the change in account
terms to not allow email to prepaid phones.

This service is currently being advertised through dealer available
brochures as a t-mobile supplied service.

I have 3 prepaid phones with over $250 of service not yet used that I
obtained primarily for the emailed text messaging to get updates on news
and weather to my phone.

I expect to have my credits refunded if this service is not resumed.

And I expect compensation for the past month of no email service.

Pass the phrase "deceptive trade practice" to your corporate lawyers. I
will to the FCC and state regulators if this service is not restored.
dakman33 - 08 Jan 2004 11:47 GMT
Pass the phrase "free commerce" and the right to make changes to any and
all of a company policies at anytime so long as it doesn't infringe on a
contract. You have a pre-paid phone with no committment connected to it
on your end. T-mo has absolutely no responsibility whatsoever to
guarentee you continuing services that in the past they included for
free. They must provide you with phone coverage. That's it. they are
doing that. There is absolutely NOTHING dishonest about their buisness
practice in this situation.
Here's an idea....Buck-up and make a service committment with them and
get all the extra services you want.

T-Mobile is still advertising email address as available at dealers.
The PDA man report says only that CSAs are telling not available.

It is certainly allowable to change the price for a service with no
contract; I never said differently.

I still belive that it is deceptive to advertise a product as
currently available and not have it available (at any price).
dakman33 - 09 Jan 2004 09:08 GMT
I agree with you on one point. if they are still going to advertise it,
they should provide the service. I just wonder if the ad campaign has
ended and the promo 'POP' has not been removed yet.

I wonder how they'd feel if they knew their correspondence was being
splattered all across the globe in an open forum.  Just a thought.

To be honest, I don't think anyone at T-Mobile gives a sh.t.  Most cs
reps only do the job because they are paid and what they can do is
limited (at best, by the company.  Most of the managers are total
a.sholes, however you may find one who can help if you keep bitching.

As for the corporate office fax and fax them.  I've found it totally
impossible to get a phone number for them.

Last but not least, write the better business bureau and the FCC and
file complaints with both.

Out of all the companies, T-Mobile has the suckiest customer service
going.  The biggest joke is calling them and hearing ?Hello, this is
T-Mobile, home of world class service, how may I help you??

My thoughts are, f.ck T-Mobile!

Sending messages from the MS Messenger to the phone seems to be
disabled, too. Bastards.
PDA Man - 09 Jan 2004 00:46 GMT
Rene,
Unfortunately, you will find there is NO WAY to get a message to the
EasySpeak Prepaid phone without the email address capability, shy of a EMAIL
to SMS gateway. While there is several available, they all incur a per
message fee , which of course is not cost effective. One recommendation that
I can make is that www.bigfoot.com has a free email forward service that
will alert the phone by SMS message that you have an email and the name of
the sender, and that is all. Don't know if that will help you. There used to
be several companies that offered these services free, but as well all know
the internet "Free Service, Paid by Advertising" concept has come and gone.
I will continue to search and should I come up with a viable alternative I
will, of course, inform the group.

Sorry, No news
I am on this almost DAILY. To reiterate your position IT IS VERY FRIGGING
FRUSTRATING. I have spent so much time trying to find some form of an
alternative that wont cost any additional monies, and so far NOTHING. When I
have called to the easySpeak CSR's, I get this "We have heard it is not gone
for good, but thats all we know" Well as i have stated, they have realized
that FREE unlimited incoming was a helluva deal and they had to nip it in
the bud. They may have had an issue on "billability" on incomming SMS
(original ly  they were unable to Bill any SMS on EasySpeak so it was
unlimited FREE incomming and outgoing, EVE if you were outta credits. AGH
the old days!!) They also have entered into this new agreement with OZ to
handle their TEXT messaging and they will probably be working on integrating
that. In closing, there is too much money to be lost on TEXT messaging, it
will not be gone for good, just a mtter of when.
One of the interesting things is that many of the services that offer
MAIL2SMS gateways, actually use the same Tmobile email2SMS gateway so it is
no help.
I have found a few alternatives that you may be able to use, especially
those with light useage requirements. In short, it is gonna run you about
.10 US +/- to recieve an EMAIL2SMS message.

I will post some links to some EMAIL2GATEWAY portals on my website for you
to look at and evaluate.

http://wirelessway.blogspot.com  Please stop by often I try and deal with
most things Wireless. Phones, PDA's WiFI etc.
