I just read on cnet.news that in April Verizon will be offering a phone
which does GSM (for travelers), and will also have CDMA for US usage.
Sadly, that is all that I know.  Verizon is withholding the
manufacturer's name.

It is probably Motorola, or at least based on a MOT chip set.
Motorola has their own chipsets (most CDMA phones have Qualcomm
chipsets), and has done a multi mode chip set for mobile phones.
