> Is there any GSM in Panama City, Florida?
T-Mobile provides GSM-1900 coverage in Panama City (FL) but it does not
extend down to Port St. Jo. I don't know if AT&T has roaming with T-Mobile
in Panama City or not.

How about Palm Beach - Jupiter area? I need T-Mobile GPRS in that area, does
it work? Anyone uses it?

T-Mo has native coverage in that area and it works fine.

Thanks for the good news, in three day I'll test it myself
;-)

Thanks for the answers, everyone.
I bought the 6200 on AT&T Wireless two days after my first post. I am
very happy with it so far. Reception is very strong and clear, and no
one has complained about my transmitting strength.
I have yet to make a trip to Panama City. Hopefully AT&T will have a
few more GSM towers in the area before my next trip up.
I'm still curious about using a pre-paid chip in my old Nokia 6160
cell phone. That would be a good backup in case my GSM phone doesn't
work.

You *should* be able to roam on Cingular and/or T-Mobile...
AT&T has no licenses for Bay County and (barring a miracle, such as
VZW selling off their 800 MHz system or part of their 1900 MHz
spectrum there -- VZW does *not* need 55 MHz in P.C.) won't have
native coverage in P.C. until the AT&T/Cingular merger is complete
(assuming it does happen.)

That would be good enough for me. I thought it might have shown up on
ATTWS maps as some kind of connectivity if I could roam.

I was hoping this might be the ultimate answer when I extended my
contract and bought the Nokia 6200. Thanks for the info.

Alright, my dad has an unlocked nokia 6200 phone and has service with
Suncom (www.suncom.com) up here in tri-cities Tn a member of the
ATTWirles network. He went to Panama city last week and could not
roam in panama city beach and he was highly pissed about it. So there
is no way he can roam with GSM in panama city until the cingular/at&t
merger is complete? He had to switch his service back over to a TDMA
phone that he took with him just in case. Also when is the predicted
merger going to take place ya reckon?
