Just got one. Never had a clam phone before. This prob applies to V300 also.

The Orange manual and the motorola .pdf (for V300 actually, there isn't one
for V500 at Motorola.com) doesn't make this clear. If I open the phone when
it's not ringing, should the internal screen come to life automatically or
do I have to hit the power onbutton? On my new phone I have to tap the power
button and it goes through the Motorola welcome screen as though I just
turned it on for the first time.

assuming the phone is on before you closed the flip, when you open the flip,
the main screen should appear nearly instantly. If it does not and you have
to power up the phone, then theres a problem.
