I got 2 good StarTac phones at a Police auction.  How do I tell which one I can
use on my Verizon account?  How do I tell what type of phone it is (dual band,
tri band, CDMA,  TDMA)?     MCI Worldcom has changed names to what?

#1 says Motorola inside and is a ST7868W with a fixed stubby  antenna. The  FCC
ID number is partly rubbed off.  Says Dual Band on the display screen

#2 says MCI Worldcom inside, has no apparent model number and has a pull-out
extending antenna.  The FCC ID number is 1HDY5YD1.  Says Digital on the display
screen.

Thanks, Tim

Dual band, tri-mode CDMA.  Verizon will activate it if it's not on an
account that still owes money and it's not stolen (which it isn't,
legally, if you bought it at a police auction.)

Most likely TDMA - they resold AT&T, IIRC.  No idea as to bands/modes.

I think that comment comes with the phone.  Everyone who owns one
feels like that.
