I have the T720 from Cingular (GSM) and it shuts off randomly when making
calls.  Does anyone know what can be done about it?   Thank Tom

My T720 does this as well, I don't know why it does it, Or how to stop it,
But for me, It only happens once and a while, Like maybe every week or so,
Or if i've been using the menu alot, scrolling to this, selecting that, It
probably has something to do with memory, and or caching, cuz it dont happen
often, it doesnt bother me too much.

I found that my phone would freeze up or shut down out of the blue
occasionally. I rang the network provider and they recommended actually
turning the phone off (or rebooting) the phone once a day because some
phone's memory can get bogged down. Perhaps the software doesn't clean out
its memory after performing actions? Since I have started doing this the
phone has only crashed once - and I think this was after I have forgotten to
turn it off for two or three days. I don't know if this will help you.
Cheers Janet.

I am so glad to know that this is not just happenng to me.  My phone
will randomly shut off in the middle of a text, call or just scrolling
through menus. Does anyone think this could possibly be a defect in
just a certain amount of phones? My cellular service provider has
reset my phone twice and nothing has really improved.

Kristin,
The first T720 phone I had also had a problem with the screen of death
occurring when writing text messages and using the menus. If it was returned
within the first week then the phone would be replaced with a new one so I
did this. This problem has also occurred with the second phone but is quite
rare and the problem does not occur if I reboot the phone every couple of
days. Neither of these phones actually crashed for me during a phone call. I
am actually starting to think that the problem exists in all the T720 phones
but the extent can vary from very rare to a major problem. I would actually
be interested to hear whether your service provider just set the phone to
its default settings or actually reflashed the phone. In my case I think the
problem is software related but if your phone is actually crashing during a
phone call (where software doesn't really effect it I wouldn't think) then
maybe the problem on your phone is hardware. Does rebooting your phone once
a day help to stop or decrease the problems on your phone?
Cheers Janet

Tony,

Did they replace it with the same version of the software or a later
version? Its just that I have checked the phone previously and rang the
service centre and it seems that I have the latest version of the software
on my phone. T720_G_05.08.52R, Flex Version GS5T949WL074. So I figured there
was no real point in having the phone reflashed but maybe there is...
Cheers Janet

My first T720 (GSM) did the same thing. It had SW version
T720_G_05.08.81R. I took it back within the grace period and it was
replaced with a new T720, SW version T720_G_5.07.42R. The new phone is
flawless. I got my daughter the same phone at the same time. Her T720
with the later version software was problem free but was stolen a week
ago. My phone insurance replaced it with a new T720 with the same SW
version as my second T720. So far, her's is also flawless.
