I have the T720 (Alltel) and I am not to satisfied with it or the
service. I left Cingular using a Nokia which worked fine locally (was
not a dual phone). But with Alltel/T720 I will be talking on the phone
while stationary or mobile and it just ends the call. I have upgraded
sw and phone support says to exchange phone that there is probably a
problem with my phone, but when I go to retail store I'm told they do
not exchange phones because of dropped calls. They want to ship it off
for repair and will not back up data. It's very annoying. Does this
sound normal to anyone or should I push the issue. I've only had the
service approx. 6 weeks.

Sounds like a load of crap to me, keep at them , or try talking to the next
level of "management" at Alltel.  I have the T720 on AT&T and it is the best
phone I have ever had, no dropped calls, and clear reception even in my
basement.

Yes! Push them way harder, Don't let them take advantage of you, In fact,
Call your provider, Tell them you're leaving their service unless they can
replace your obviously malfunctioning phone, Let them know about what the
dealer said as well, Tell them you're are VERY DISATISFIED with their
service, from them, and their dealer.  The longer they push it off, The
better it is for them in slamming the door shut on any recourse you may
have, I.E. 60 days, or 90 days return policy etc etc.

I also have the same phone (T720), I don't get any dropped calls unless I'm
on the road, But often I hear a TIN CAN type digital glarbly gook over the
line, This is normal I think, and I can live with that... Sorry to hear
about your problems.

Next time "phone support" (I have no idea who you mean) tells you to
have the store exchange it, ask them to please call the store manager
(while you're on the phone with them) and arrange for the exchange and
give you the manager's name and the manager your name.

I had the same problem.  Turns out there is a clip on the antenna on
my phone that was broke.  I went to the local Alltel store (not a
reseller, but Alltel corp), they gave me a loner, and even moved my
address book over for me.
