I have an older digital Motorola phone I would like to use for emergencies
only. It has no contract but it does work. It will connect with 911. I have
heard that it's possible to make collect/credit card calls with a cell phone
even though it has no contract. I've tried dialing 0 and direct dialing a
phone number but get only a busy signal. Can anyone help me get this to
work? I've also heard that the current phone number and ID number must be
removed to make collect/credit card calls but I don't know how to remove
this info. Thanks.

Post the model number of the phone and maybe someone who has one will
tell you how to do it.

If you go to your local shop that sells prepaid cell phones, they should be
able to reprogram your phone for prepaid use. Then you just enter the prepid
card or you credit card number when you need it. I was going to use this
sol'n when I was between providers/comparing plans, but it is too expensive
for even lite regular use. But it may be wht you are looking for.

If they do more than just sell prepaid phones, and if they're familiar
with the phone he has.  Otherwise they'd be as lost as we are.
