That's not what he means, the service provider can provide the code for any
phone they supply, he means a 3rd party unlock.
You should be able to get the code from a phone unlocker to do them.

Thanks for the replies.
I've been doing some searching on the internet for sites that can unlock the
phones using the IMEI numbers, unfortunately they all (the ones I've found)
say that the Motorola servers are down. If I find another shop offering an
unlock service will they be in the same boat? I mean, are they simply taking
the phones and accessing the internet like I could or do some have other
means to generate unlock codes?

In Motorola phones unlock code isn't generate from the imei. Producent
randomly generates unlock codes for each handset and create a list with imei
and unlock code corresponding to it. When you or someone else want to remove
lock from your Moto phone, there is no other way to remove it. You can only
obtain it from Moto server where the codes are. Ou I sorry there is the
other way. You can always pay your provider. They get all codes to the
phones they sell from corresponding producents of the handsets.
I have unlocked my v300 in local gsm shop. Anyway I have a question. Have
you in your daughters' Motorolas an option to get confirmation that sms was
received? My v300 is from polish provider ERA GSM and I don't have this
option. Maybe there is different software and flexes for every region of the
world?

Thanks for replying. I haven't really had a chance to check out the phones
yet. I got them on Monday and only got them back from my local mobile shop
last night.
I will have a look later and let you know, if someone else hasn't already
answered you.
