While looking into what I had to do to use my V60s with the professional
hands free car kit I am presently using for the 270C, I created a little web
site that details all the different hands free car kits, and the different
hang-up cups.
There are a lot of errors and omissions on the Motorola web site regarding
the Professional Hands Free Car Kits. Hopefully this site will clear things
up, but I may have errors too, so if you see anything wrong then let me
know.
One question is what's the difference between the old S9610 base kit, and
the new S9950 base kit? Both appear to have the same components. Motorola
often assigns multiple model numbers to the same item, i.e. there are two
instances where there are two hang-up cup models for a single phone model,
with no indication of the difference.

According to Moto parts ID, the S9610 part no is superseded by S9950.
They are one and the same, other than the new kits most likely come with
an SYN9760 junction box instead of a SYN9271.
***IMPORTANT***
Something to be aware of is that this newest SYN9760 junction box doesn't
support radio mute when used with certain handsets.
I've seen this issue when used with T720/T730 with 1.2.22.44.5P. (VZW)
I tested the kit with an AT&T T720 and the radio mute worked fine, so it is an
issue with certain firmware versions in certain phones. But, the older
SYN9271 boxes DO radio mute just fine.
Because of the above issue, I have a BRAND NEW S9708 kit that I'd like
to sell. Radio mute is necessary for me, so I installed a S9610 kit with the
old box instead. This is the latest kit, direct from Motorola for the T720/T730.

Just received the S9950A kit from VZW for my V60s. The kit contains:
SYN9760A Junction box
SMN4107B Microphone
SKN4922B Wiring Harness
SSN4020A Speaker
SJJN4078E Installation/User's Guide
Also, it appears that the Hang-Up Cup has been renumbered from SYN0705
to 66491 (unless, of course, that's a VZW internal number) -- there is
a new sticker over the old SYN0705 sticker on the box. I can't find
any number on the Hang-Up Cup itself, but included in the box are:
SYN0407A Swivel Mounting Bracket
SKN6365A Cable

Thanks for that.
Looks like they moved the swivel bracket from the base kit to the hang-up
cup, a good idea.
Verizon uses their own numbers. They won't tell you the Motorola numbers.

Did the hang-up cup box include the entire kit with the little square
plastic plate that the swivel mounts to?

Yes, it did.

Does the radio mute work with a V60?
(Using the new SYN9760 box)
Like I said before, it DOESN'T with a T720/T730.
I had to go back to a SYN9271 box.

I have not had a chance to connect it -- I will let you know once I do.

Steve--
I took a quick glance at your website -- a lot of good info. I
disgree with your section on antennas:
Antennas
These kits require an external antenna for best performance,
though they
will work with the phone's own antenna. The most popular antennas
are the
through the glass antennas where you glue a plate on each side of
the
glass. Make sure you get one with the proper connector.
When you insert the phone into the cradle, it essentially disables the
phone's own internal antenna -- without an external antenna, you are
basically using a short piece of coax as your antenna, which is
virtually useless. I have found the Terk CFR-904 to perform very well
with the V60s (and previously with the T720):
http://www.terk.com/pdfs/CFR904.pdf
It looks similar to a satellite radio antenna (i.e., no whip). No
wind noise and more "stealth" in appearance...

Okay, I'll fix that. However I did not notice any difference in signal
strength with the phone out of the cradle and the phone in the cradle before
I put in the antenna.

That is probably true in a strong signal area. I have tried it in an area
where I have marginal coverage, and there is definitely a difference -- to
the point where you actually lose a signal or call when you disconnect the
external antenna while the phone is in the cradle. With my V60s, if I
connect an antenna adapter (Wilson #352014) without antenna to my v60s, the
signal strength drops from three to two bars. If I connect an extenal
antenna (Wilson Dual-Band Mini Magnet with Sputnik Ground Plane,
suction-cupped to inside of window), the signal strength climbs to four
bars, fairly consistantly. Not an exact science, but you get the picture.
Also, it appears that the change in signal strength does not register
immediately according to the phone display. It's appears that the meter on
the phone averages signal strength over a period of time.
