I'm not being harsh, but stick with your Nokia, I have connected my V600 to
both my Palm M505 and my colleagues Ipaq 2210 via BT, I can confirm dial up
IP, sms send , BT dial up , can't confirm the other stuff, your post just
appears to be a 'i'm a nokia fan' troll post.
Why the hell do you want to change? brand? After all you could consider the
Z600 or are you scared of being impressed?

Well, I hadn't considered the Z600 but I will now.
The main reason to upgrade is that my 6310i is old and battered, and has
developed an intermittant fault with the antenna connection (I use it daily
in my handsfree cradle).

Well just to let you know it is not a Nokia handset so you may not be happy
with it anyway, some useneters seem to suffer from a condition called
Nokiatitus , a sysmptom where only a handset with a nokia badge seems to be
flawless in everyway even though they are not sufferers refuse to see it any
other way.

My T39 is old and battered too but has served me well and doesn't have an
intermittant fault, there is just no need for me to go and shoot my mouth
off on a nokia group, just tired of seeing 'this brand is better than that
brand' rants , I'm sure you know what I mean.

Yes, very similar to the PC/MAC debate. I have been a Nokia user for years
(many company issued) but have used the old Panasonic (C200? C100?). They
were great phones except for the abissmal battery life, although this was
pre- Li-Polymer.

I really couldn't care less about the "badge". The phone only has to have 3
attributes. (1) Not too big. (2) Must have bluetooth. (3) Must be
Tri-Band/Quad-Band. Camera's, color screens and polyphonic ring tones do not
interest me in the slightest, my iPaq is all the color screen I need.

To be honest if you need something right now, then get a SE T610 T630 or
Z600 , they do all you need with minimal support straight out of the box.
I am pleased with my V600 even though it is not as useful as my T39 but
wouldn't return it.
The screen does make my Palm screen look bland but when the drivers become
available I may trade up to a Tungsten.

Hmmm...at the risk of incurring Avanti's wrath, If you want something that
will provide rock-solid connection to an Ipaq, with some bells and
whistles, go for a T610/630 or if you prefer a flip, a Z600.
I have just returned a V600, primarily because I had real problems with the
bluetooth implementation and connectivity to my PC and Ipaq 4150.
I have seen a couple of Usenet posts that state they have successfully
connected a V600 via bluetooth to an Ipaq and then used the GPRS
functionality to surf the web...but the exact same settings did not work
for me!
I would also love to know how Avanti managed to send sms and get dial up
with his mates PocketPC, cos if I had been able to figure out how to
achieve this, I might have kept the bloody thing.
If you like simple user interfaces, then definitely go for a Sony
Ericsson...I happen to think the UI is as good as, if not better than the
later Nokias!
One last thing to consider, is if you do have any connectivity problems
with one of the SE phones..a quick search on Google groups will normally
find the answer. The V600, because it is so new, is still being tested in a
lot of scenarios, so that sort of helpful information hasn't propagated to
the wider audience yet!

Er I did suggest this to the OP, my original choice after having the T39 was
the Z600 I was dissapointed at the bulky size and plasticy feel to it, but
it will do the bizz.

I used the same settings on the IPAQ 2210 as on my old Palm m505.

I have had the day off work today if my colleague is in Thursday I will
check how we set it up.
The main difference I had to do with the Moto compared with the Eric was
that the phone is classed as a Local network and I had to add a script which
was
PPP
Idle : Never
Query DNS
IP address is Auto
Script :
SEND :at&fx1e0v1
SEND CR
SEND CR
SEND : at+cgdcont=1,"IP","orangeinternet"
SEND CR
SEND: *atd*99***1#
SEND CR
WAIT for; CONNECT
END
It was the Orange Data support that furnished me with the info and the guy
suggested using ther Howard Forum.
Now as I say I COULD send SMS however something is awash with my Palm now as
it says there is an unsent message and I cannot see it, I have tried a reset
and restore, I cannot pull the sms messages from my handset hence the
purchase of MPT 620.
I can happily dial from from my palm, I have also sent SMS from a tungsten
with the same handset.
Thinking about it, when i had my T39 there was not a driver available
immediately and it was several months before one appeared.
I am sure there is some smart alec that could create a driver in their
lunchbreak or give the exact technical reason why this function will never
be available.
