hi

ive been told that the v60s will provide above average reception. i
currently have an audiovox8600--i was swayed by the small size--but this
phone is DEFINITLY inferior in terms of reception. i now find i have the
'poor reception' indicator beeping in areas my old T720 handled well.

can anyone verify this alleged superior reception? could it be that my
audiovox needs flashed or something? could i have a wrong setting
somewherwe?

thanks

I tested the 8600 and found it to have the worst reception of any Verizon
phone I have tested or owned. The VX4400 with firmware V10 has the best of
any current Verizon phones. The V60s has excellent reception with 1 flaw. It
tends to hold onto the Verizon digital signal beyond the point of it being
usable. The VX4400 looks for a new signal nearly flawlessly, going intp
extended or analog smoothly, with no disruption or breaking up of the call.
The V60s will hold onto the Verizon signal to the point of breaking up and
making the call unintelligible. But man, it does grab weak signals if that
is what you want. Every time I try one of the new phones, I get more and
more attached to the VX4400. Battery life is better on the VX4400 than on
the V60s, also. The 8600 is the worst, the 8900 is not too bad, but comes
short of the V60s and VX4400. Analog capability is also a requirement of
mine because of traveling. The V60s gives a slightly better analog signal
than the VX4400, 8600, or 8900 if you can get it to give up the digital it
has.

All reports I've seen of the V60s give it high marks for reception. It's
becoming the cult phone to replace the 270C. Last week I had the opportunity
to be in the same remote place with my sister-in-law who has the LG VX4400.
The reception on the VX4400 was terrible. I could get a signal and call her,
but she couldn't receive the call. This was on AMPS. On digital I'm not sure
if the V60s is any better than the other phones. She's returning the LG
phone, having given up on it after already being persuaded by the store to
keep trying. Poor battery life on digital and poor AMPS reception.

Tell her to make sure she has V10 of the firmware. Big improvement.

Thanks, I'll see her today, and I'll check it.
