I recently got myself a Motorola - I was a bit dubious about moving away
from Nokia, but I took the plunge anyway.  At the shop, I was told that my
C550 would hold 150 messages, and yet I was warned of low message space
today after reaching just 12.

I have 2mb of space for Java games, yet I dont need any space for games - is
it possible to use this space for messages?  I cant see that Motorola would
have allocated this much space for games, and made it unavailable to
messages!

Another question I have is, is it possible to turn on delivery reports at
all?  When I was on the old phone, reports came as standard, yet there
doesnt seem to be a way to turn them on with this one, and it doesnt even
confirm when a message has been sent!

Thankyou!
Robbie

Yes I know what you mean....! I've moved from a Nokia user of many
years to a Moto v525 - 12 messages, then memory full? Huh? Surely this
can be changed...

My Nokia could hold LOADS.. hundreds even!

maybe the phone is saving the message on the sim instead of saving it on the
phone itself. check your settings?

Any idea where I'd find these settings?  The manual is not very helpful -
there doesnt seem to be an SMS settings section!

I know what you mean Glen, I was going to go for the Nokia 3100, 150msgs.
Instead I have this 12msg capacity thing!

Flashing helps. If you are a bit of experimentator, flashing to v600
firmware will make your v525 play videos like overrated more expensive
nokias:-)

Ok, but wil this help me to use my free space to hold txts?  I dont need to
play video, just store lots of messages, like they said it would be able to!

I have not checked specs of v600 or v525. I have v300, 30 msgs were allowed,
then I flashed it with v600 firmware,  50 messages in inbox at the
moment-still no limitation.
But, some say sms storage is limited with flex which can be updated only if
phone is unlocked. Mine is locked, only did flash, still have old flex but
no limitation. So it doesnt appeal to every case. Seems that it depends on
provider. And that is preety stupid.

Flexing you  mean.. done that - More more memory for messages though.

My v600 currently has 15 in the inbox & 16 in the oubox (sent) and i've
already deleted loads. My v500 is in a similar position. Must be a firmware
or provider issue - mine are from orange.
