V600 Camera Fault ?

Hi

I was wondering if anyone had experience of a similar problem and if any
fixes for this were known.

Basically the problem with my V600 camera is as follows.

When i switch to camera mode and the light levels outside are too high
(sunny or bright) after a second or two the message - "busy. try again"
appears on screen and the phone returns to the main menu screen.

You can fool the camera into switching on and staying in camera mode by
shielding the display screen with your hand (must have a light sensor behind
it i guess) and then removing your hand to see a locked image the camera has
caught. At this point the camera display is locked and does not refresh. If
you try and store this image the phone tends to lock up and switch itself
off and on.

Camera works fine in lower light levels i.e. dusk and indoors and no amount
of adjusting light/exposure settings helps the camear to operate properly
outdoors in bright light.

Anyone any ideas on cause and fixes?

I hope a firmware/flex upgrade will do the trick or maybe i have to contact
Moto rola about a faulty phone.

Thanks

Graham

Don't bother screwing around with trying to fix it with a flash/flex.
Return it and get a different one.....sounds like a serious problem.

Do a Master Reset (not CLEAR) and see if that cures the problem.  Master
reset won't erase your phone book but will return the camera and other
settings to factory default. That may cure the problem.   Its in SETTINGS.

Thanks for info.

Tried the master reset but still the same. Looks like i'll have to go back
to moto with it. Problem is i bought the phone 2nd hand so don't have
receipt. Have got original box etc so might be able to wing it.

Thanks again

well, if your going to return it anyway, do the master clear, you have
nothing to lose.

Call Motorola and ask for assistance. Now, we know that the phone wont be
helped, but you can do the old "Is this under warranty by serial number? I
got it 7 months ago and not sure if I know where the receipot is" They will
punch it in, and if its under the serial number warranty, you wont need a
receipt and can send in. If the serial is off warranty, then to send in
you'll need a receipt. Its a pain in the butt, but may save you some time,
becuase if it is under warranty, no tricking involved, just send it to
Texas.
