v220 and mpt

I installed mtp 1.23 and updated it to 2.21 I have a V220 and connecting to
my pc with a USB cable that I use with my Canon Elph. When it try to
install the phone, it just times out. Is this software not compatible with
my phone? What do I need to use to send ring tones to the phone and get
pics back off of it? I have also tried P2KMAN and it just says phone not
connected? When I connect the usb cable, windows (XP) dings. Prior to
installing the software windows even recongnized the phone as a V220 but was
not able to do anything with it. Any direction would be appreciated

Your digital cam cable works with it?? That is surprising!
Try grabbing up MPT 3 and see if that does the trick, though I doubt it if
you cannot even conncet to P2k. A couple options are to install PST and
direct windows to the pst folder for any drivers it wants, locate and
download the motorola usb drivers and try again, or pick up a motorola usb
cable made for Motorola phones. Also, if windows picked up you v220, go to
the control panel and see what com port it is using in the modem properites
and try changing whatever program you are using to that com port.
