every 40min or so while the bluetooth headset is paired to my v551 i get a
very annoying, 3 note acending alert tone telling me, i believe, that the
bluetooth power is on and draining the battery.  but . . . i already know
that . . . i like it that way but that alert is driving me crazy and hey . .
. i don't have that far to go!  i fixed a misbehaving watch years ago, with
a framing hammer but the watch was only worth 20 bucks!

so i looked and looked in the manual and this ng but i cant find where to
turn off the alert.  if there even is that option

well under settings there's tools/personalize/audio/connection/call
forward/in-call setup/initial setup/phone status/headset/car
settings/network/security/java settings and finally web settings but no ring
styles

If you can't find ring styles on your own then I think you have bigger
problems than an annoying tone.

There should be a "Ring Styles".
You are saying you have "Audio": it's probably in there, then, innit?

Please pardon this message's formatting, as this is my first post on th
forum.  As you know by now, the V551 instruction manual is lousy, so
can't be sure this will help.  I do have a BT (Jabra) headset, and m
phone has not ever given me a warning alert, but if such a settin
exists, I suggest it must be under "audio."  Here is the key:  for th
V551, there are separate "alert" settings that can be personalized fo
each of the "ring status" settings the phone can be on.  So, fo
example, you can pick a host of sounds the phone will make when yo
have the phone on the "loud" audio setting.  And yet another fo
"Soft," for "vibrate," and "vibrate then ring," and for "silent."  I
V551 nomenclature, each of these is called a "Ring Detail," and to ge
to one, push menu/settings/Audio :  when you get here the menu wil
show you where the phone is set (and it allows you to change the detai
at this location, although it is much easier to do with the side-button
when the flip is closed) -- to see all the different types of rings yo
can be alerted with, select "Loud ring detail" (or, "Soft Ring Detail"
etc.).  Under any of the details, you are permitted to pick ringtone
for Calls, Txt Messages, Voicemail, Alarms, Data Calls and Fax Calls.
Finally, you can opt whether to to allow individualized ringer IDs t
play and last but not least, you can allow "reminders" to be on or off
Now, that may refer to a Bluetooth Headset reminder, OR to a calenda
reminder -- I don't know.  But, seems to me this is where it would b
done.  It sure doesn't exist under the Bluetooth poweron/poweroff menu
Why not go into these menus and turn "reminders" off.  Worth a try.
Then I'd try calling the support number for whoever makes your headset
They might know.

thanks for the help.  i had selected silent which gives no option to change
the detail.  this obnoxious sound isn't in the detail list.  im not sure if
the phone even makes it.  could be the headset
