V551 - strange battery charging behavior

While charging, it will be showing one bar, then suddenly beep and show a
full charge. Then, a couple of minutes later (still plugged in), it will
show one bar again and be charging away. It has done this off and on all
day as I sit here at work.

I got my V551 yesterday, and it showed a full charge. Since it also came
pre-configured, I assumed they had also did the first 24-hour charge process
and I just started using it, making a few calls during the evening. Then,
this morning, it was beeping that the battery was low. So, I checked out
this forum and elsewhere and heard about the initially short battery life
and the suggestion to give it a full charge. That is when the strange
behavior started.

I also just got a V551
and noticed it has the same crappy connector as my T720
make sure the connector is clean and dust free . After awhile and
after a few different chargers i found the right setup
hope i dont have the same problem with this phone

Thanks for the idea. I just got a generic charger that is supposed to work
with this model, planning to set it up at home (given that even those who
seem to have the best battery life still need charging every couple of
days). I will see if it is doing the same with that charger.

phones don't come with batteries fully charged. also, check your s/w
version (*#9999#) and make sure you've got firmware version 18.16R or
higher. Version 17.0 has known issues causing the battery to drain
earlier. in that case, exchange it at your phone store. i've gomy 551 a
week ago, and it already had the more recent firmware version.

Thanks, I didn't know how to check that. Luckily, I do have 18.16R, so I am
hoping it is just the connection issue mentioned by another poster.
