I just got the Motorola Razr v3 and love it so far. BUT, I cant seem to
get rid of the envelope icon on my screen.  I have deleted all text
messages from all the folders and its still there.  And I cant find a
"remove envelope icon" like on my old Samsung.

Any ideas?

Any emails?

'Tis far better to have snipped too much than to never have snipped at all.

Make sure you have no new messages in voicemail as well as email and SMS
and then remove the battery, wait 30 seconds, put it back in and turn on
the phone. Should be gone then.

I verified that I have no voicemail, SMS (in the inbox, sent, draft,
etc. folders), email (none in my SprintPCS email), or other messages.
Then I removed the battery for 30+ seconds andd when I turn on the
phone, the envelope icon is still there.

Thanks for the ideas so far. I havent used IM or Yahoo mail yet, so I
dont think I would have to delete anything from there.  I checked
gmail, but that shouldnt register on the handset.

Any other workarounds come to mind?

Menu|Messages|Info Services and Menu|Messages|Browser Msgs both have
to be empty on my L6, I'm guessing the same applies to the V3 which
seems to be an L6 with a hinge :-)

Try sending yourself a new message from another phone or a PC. Once
you've read and deleted it the icon may go away.  I have had a similar
problem with the voicemail icon not receiving the instruction to turn
off the icon. Opening a new message forced the instruction to turn it
off.

Try opening or looking for browser messages.

By "browser messages" do you mean *Sprint PCS mail?  I surfed around on
my browser and couldnt find anything that was specifically labeled
"browser messages". If you could provide the menu path to get to
"browser messages", that would be great.

And Kinky (as in Friedman? if so, good work!), I do not have the paths
"Menu|Messages|Info Services"  or "Menu|Messages|Browser Msgs".  The
closest thing I have is "Main Menu|Messaging|Text Messaging" or "Main
Menu|Web"

Thanks for all the help in the help and ideas from the forum.

(*I forgot to mention that Sprint is my provider)

This problem has no end!

The voicemail icon appears / disappears like it should, but I still
have the "plain" envelope icon that is associated with text / email
messages.  I think I will just go into a Sprint store and see if they
can help me.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

I have the same problem.  Did you ever find a solution to the envelope
issue on your RAZR phone?
