I just bought a new RAZR V3xx phone for AT&T. I forgot to see if it was
unlocked before I bought it, and it unfortunately for me was not. Anyone
know of the easiest way to get this unlocked? Can I call AT&T, and will they
walk me through it? Or do I have to pay someone else to do this? Is this
something I can do with the right software?

If you have been an ATT customer for 90+ days thay will give you the
code for the asking (it takes a few days). If you are a new customer and
can't wait 90 days explain that you'll be travelling out of the country
and you want to use a prepaid SIM where you're going and they might
still give it to you.

I've been a AT&T/Cingular?AT&T customer for over 5 years. This will be the
first time that I have asked for something like this from them. Hopefully
they will give it to me.

If not, is it worth buying one of these codes from the different sellers on
Ebay, or should I go to a brick & mortar store?

Thanks for the help Bruce.

Call 1-800-331-0500 and ask for the Subsidy Code to unlock your phone.
You should have no problem. You can pay a service but AT&T owes you the
code for YOUR phone at no charge to you.

While I'm not an AT&T user I can tell you that T-Mobile has never
flinched in getting the code. Typically it takes 3-5 days for them to
email it to you.
