Will my V195 charge if plugged into the USB port of some random PC
which doesn't have the Motorola drivers intstalled?

I've already installed the drivers on every PC I have access to, so I
can't test without uninstalling them, which I'd rather not.

Geez... I'm sitting in a building with several hundred people, each
of whom has a PC with at least one USB port, and it never occurred to
me to simply plug my phone into one of them and see what happened
(after asking the owner's permission, of course).

I just did that and the phone lit up and started charging just fine.

The Internet makes you stupid, doesn't it?

In my experience with a Razr v3,  no, it won't work on  a PC w/o
drivers.

It will, however, for some mysterious reason, work on a Mac without
drivers.

On my V325, it varies with lunar tides. Sometimes it will say
"Unauthorized Charger," sometimes not. I was kind of surprised that
there was any communications over the USB data lines during charging.
I'm sure that if I made up a cable with just the power and ground,
without the USB data lines, that it would work on any USB port.

I found an explanation for the V3's behavior here

I don't know if my V195 plays the same sort of games.
