Darn it.  I posted two questions here last night, Friday, 18 March
2005.

I quit my Usenet reader, relaunched it, came back to this Group and
there were my two posts.

I return to the Group today...they're gone.

What is going on?  What am I doing wrong?

  TIA,
  bob

After a certain amount of time your ISP removes posts to make room for new
ones. All ISP have different retention times, some are as high as 30 days
but Usenet access bundled for free with your ISp is usually under a week.

There is also a chance that your news reader has marked them read and
did not download them again.  They could still be on the server just not
vi sable to you because they are marked read.

Good point, I didn't think of that.
