Well it has been about 2 1/2 weeks since Verizon implemented their PTT.  How
are the Verizon customers handling the delay?
Spam MeHere - 02 Sep 2003 00:10 GMT
My sister-in-law purchased 4 phones with PTT for her family (she was an
existing verizon user).  I am a nextel user and I tried to get her to change
to nextel since it has proven good performance in eastern Massachusetts.
She brought the v60p's over my house to show me the phones.  She could not
get the PTT to work with the phones in the same room.  Once she was home in
her house she still had trouble.  She brought them all back the next day and
reactivated her prior phones.  She now plans to switch to Nextel in a week
or two.

How did the blackout affect the people?

Fact:  Verizon towers overloaded almost immediately and had network
congestion for 4 hours after the power went out.  Switches and trunks
were fine, as were about 95-98% of the towers throughout the whole
ordeal.   people were able to use their phones after the initial rush
and in no sense was the network ever comprimised during the situation.
This was reported on many boards and by some newspapers.

Fact:  Nextel PTT worked great during the first 5 minutes or so of the
blackout and then subsequently started dropping as much as 95% of PTT
calls soon thereafter.   Towers started going offline as little as 4
hours into the ordeal.   People on the nextel forums on boards (hofo and
wa)  were reporting that Nextel PTT and service wasn't restored in some
areas until 3 days after power was restored.

I'm not advocating one over the other, but please get your facts
straight
CCCC1 1CCCC - 02 Sep 2003 04:02 GMT
Victor your FACTS are NOT.  I'm talking about what PEOPLE in the area of
NYC who were effected.  The TRUTH...  The BS in the "boards and
newspapers"...... get a clue.  vzn wirless was not prepared and let its
customers down, "overloaded" bs excuse or not vzn wireless failed.  vzn
landlines?  some are still down in nyc.  BOTH FACTS
Nextel worked THROUGHOUT, no problems as did ATT.  FACT!

Read what you want to, but being here, calling people, being called by
people TRUTH was here.  PERIOD.  you get your facts before thinking you
know something and spreading the BS.

victor,  seems your alittle stupid.....  Yeah why should we listen to
personal responces of how vzn dropped the ball during the blackout?
Better yet listen to those that dont have the service and were not even
in the area effected.  This method of yours has merit when all you used
to hearing is vealots BS'ing, but when the TRUTH is being spoken
personal TRUTH, people in the area, people trying to use the service
they are paying for, service that should have been able to function even
when landpower was lost... example generators.... hmmm yeah BS and
rumors over personal responces and truth... yeah victor your COMPLETELY
WRONG!  Give it up loser vealot

My impression is that VZW's PTT works about as well as Nextel's regular
phone service does most everywhere else (for the sarcasm impaired, that
means not very well). But what's your point anyways? You could have just
bought a cell with a speaker phone if you wanted to share your calls with
(and annoy) everyone else around you, and it would have worked in a lot more
places too.

For many business situations, NexTel may very well make sense (I've used
under those circumstances myself). But any consumer who buys it without a
buiness need is an idiot in my book. "Oooh. It beeps every time I press the
button! Then I just talk really loud!"

now now Giambi vealot... this is America and we have choices here.
Someone can purchase a Nextel phone if they feel like it, they dont have
to answer to losers such as yourself who feel stipulations need to be
made.  They are not idiots, Get a life.   Sorry vzn's ptt sucks and your
feeling small, like the other vealots, but that is no reason to belittle
another wireless company that can get calls and ptt right.  There are
leaders and saddly in vzn's case sorry fat cat followers.  Seems the
only "idiot" is you and your grandstanding.

It really is a pain in the a.s to keep having to add a new email address for
you to the killfill every day.

The guy on TV is still talking to himself, with no answer. The
only time my Nextel DC acts like that ad is when I'm WAY out in the
woods at the edge of the Parish. Deep in the country where you start
to hear banjo music playing in the background...

Amazing! A few weeks ago I wrote about how Verizon's system would have a PTT
delay, and nobody listened! All I heard was Verizon is going make NEXTEL
look like crap.
CCCC1 1CCCC - 02 Sep 2003 15:20 GMT
Ernest.... most of us listen and noted your post and agree'd then and
YOU ARE RIGHT! its been proven vzn's copy cat ptt sucks.  There are
certain losers here that are better known as vealots.  They fight you on
anything.  If you were to say the sky is blue, they would disagree and
say "no the sky is vzn".  But now that there's proof of vzn's copy cat
ptt sucking the vealots are back on the coverage myth.  Sad sad
vealots.... anything to make vzn feel better and justify a vealots waste
of air.  Sad Sad vealots
